Why is it so important that UFDC has a fully funded Endowment? The predictable interest it generates becomes a safety net and assists in our annual planning, budgeting, and cash flow allocations. It secures UFDC's viability independent of unpredictable revenue streams, tentative sponsorships, or fluctuating membership. It provides income to assist with our financial needs over the long run and helps to pay for grants, expenses, and unexpected opportunities. And, it can relieve some of the pressure on the national convention, DOLL NEWS, ReAL Services, and dues as sources of funding; resource emergency building needs; or fund unanticipated, but essential projects. Excitingly, it can open the door to new services and offerings which add to the value of UFDC for everyone.

Our Endowment initiatives have iron-clad guardianship. Our Endowment Committee oversees our Endowment and its fundraising campaign to ensure that all elements are optimized, managed responsibly, and are in full compliance with IRS regulations. Our Executive Committee, on an annual basis and in writing, directs the distribution of income generated from the Endowment fund. The Endowment fund principal may only be used upon a vote of three-quarters of the UFDC Board of Directors.
