I was pleased to have the privilege of taking a Hitty workshop with Gail Wilson! I’d long been a fan……
Participants received a kit, containing everything they’d need. The doll’s head was already done, as well as some preliminary machine-sewing on the body parts. Then we carved the wooden arms and feet, painted arms, feet, and (turned wood) legs, and assembled the entire doll! It was a blast!
Carving my doll’s arms:
…..and more carving.
Parts all carved!
Painting stripes on her stockings:
Attaching heads and arms, and stuffing the body.
And…..Hitty’s already ‘in her cups’, on the first day of convention!
Some finished products from Gail’s other Hitty kits:
Reuniting with old friends who joined me in the class!
Barbie superfan Bradley Justice chaired the first Barbie event at UFDC in MANY years. Here’s Bradley, with longtime Barbie designer Carol Spencer! (your intrepid reporter also got to meet Carol and was starstruck!)
I also photographed as many of the OOAK centerpieces as I could….enjoy!
