Fun at Doll Dialogs

Hello from Washington D.C.! I’m Martha, the small doll in the picture below sitting with my BJD friend. I am Maria’s travel doll and we’ll be blogging from the UFDC National Convention as it happens. Our friend Marseille is also blogging. We hope you enjoy this peek into the convention as it happens!

After registering, our first stop was the Doll Dialogs. Doll dialogs are round table discussions where a presenter talks for approximately 45 minutes on their chosen topic with a small group of participants. The talks are informal and include lots of discussion and questions. At the end of the talk you get up and choose another topic that interests you. Our first dialog was “Exploring Joints – from Ball Jointed Through BJDs” by Maryll Goldsmith.

Next we learned about “Celluloid Dolls Around the World” with Nancy Harmon.

We were fascinated by “French Fashion Hats from Poupee Modele” by Barbara DeVilbiss.

Finally, we checked out the Dedo dolls at “What’s a Dedo Doll” by Elise Adams.

Aren’t those Dedos something else?

We hope you’re enjoying these first pictures from convention! Stay tuned for more.
